- TOWN HALL MEETING

Join us for our annual town hall meeting to address the issues and concerns that affect the African American community in the San Fernando Valley. Our 8th annual Juneteenth Celebration. Bring a blanket, your lawn chairs and the family for a celebration "family reunion" style. Enjoy performers and music while shopping at one of over 100 vendors at our marketplace. Grab you something to eat from one of our food vendors or participate in one of our interactive games. We will be honoring our community leaders, volunteers and student graduates. It’s a day of fun that you wouldn't want to miss.

SHANIA ACCIUS
Actress, producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Shania Accius is founder and CEO of Zawadi. Recognized for her unwavering commitment to art, women’s empowerment and community reform; for over 10 years, Shania has developed social action programs for the community. From the creation of a weekly food distribution service, the Zawadi Scouts, a Girl Scout troop specifically for girls of color, to Zawadi Leadership Initiative, a leadership program for boys, Shania has focused on programs that uplift and enrich the economic and social development of our community.

KEITH PASCHALL
With 20 years of experience producing television and film, Keith brings a unique vision to his role as Zawadi's CFO. He began his career at BET where he climbed the ranks to becoming one of the youngest senior managers within the company. He then took his expertise to Los Angeles where he began a production company with famed music video director Bille Woodruff. He then started to work in the reality world. Producing a number of hit programs such as The Amazing Race, Married at First Sight and Dr. Pimple Popper. Keith uses his managerial and accounting skills to successfully oversee all of the active projects created by Zawadi.

PROGRAMS
WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT VISION BOARD PARTY
A women’s empowerment event held in January designed to promote self-love and self-care to women. In addition to the vision board component the program features guest speakers, a panel discussion, a product swap, giveaways and other services geared to relaxation of the mind and body.
Juneteenth Community Celebration
An event to commemorate the emancipation from
slavery on June 19th, 1865. Geared towards bringing together the African American Valley community for an afternoon of fellowship and fun. The event features music, family activities, sports, water play, a book fair, an essay scholarship program, vendors and a Kidpreneur Korner. |
ZAWADI LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE
A leadership program for boys and girls of color. Lead by prominent men and women in the community, this program is designed to give youth the tools that they need to become productive leaders in society. Each year the program is centered on a theme that is supported by a number of activities and guest speakers.
BLACK IN THE VALLEY MARKETPLACE
A quarterly marketplace designed to support the community
while building financial security for small businesses in the
area. The Marketplace is held every March, June, September
and December. It features over 50 local vendors showcasing
their products and services to the public.

KIDPRENEUR BUSINESS ACADEMY
A 4 hour program designed to foster the creativity and entrepreneurial spirt in today's youth. A team of business professionals will guide our young entrepreneurs through the steps needed to become business owners. They will take their ideal from concept to realization, completing the necessary paperwork required to start a business and launching their business at our Juneteenth Community Celebration.
Zawadi food distribution
A weekly Food Distribution service designed to provide
underserved communities of the San Fernando Valley
access to good quality food. It's held every Saturday
morning from 10am until supplies last. Meats, produce,
fish, dairy, bread and prepackaged meals are all made available to the public for free.
